Hi, I'm Joe Critic, the everyday diner who has something to say! And I should start with a little background on who I am.
My interest in restaurants has built over many years. When I was 10, my grandparents took me to dinner on nights I had karate class, three times a week. By the end of high school, we were eating out daily. One of my dreams was to be a food critic, but at that time I had traditional print media in mind. This was due to having a strong writing background even at that point: I had the pleasure of taking a variety of writing courses at Johns Hopkins University's academic summer camp program, Center for Academic Advancement.
In college, I studied Communications with a focus on video production. Being an active member in the campus TV Club, and eventually general manager, it was no surprise that I went down that path rather quickly. While studying TV production, I continued to share my love for restaurants with my friends. By the time I had graduated, my friends and I were very familiar with the restaurants in Westminster, Maryland.
A few months after graduating, I secured part time work with Greenrose Media as a script writer and video editor. I found myself talking with my employer, Joe Verderosa, about the restaurants my grandparents and I went to each night. It eventually occured to us both that it would be interesting to produce a short food critic segment to air on his business show, Ocean County Business TV, on Comcast's leased access channel in Ocean County, New Jersey.
We both work hard to produce the segment--Joe Verderosa contacts the restaurants and shoots the footage, and I write the reviews and edit the video--and I hope you enjoy watching our videos as much as we enjoy making them.
The segment is currently on hiatus as things get busier at Greenrose Media. BUT! Soon to come: "Out to Eat"! A new web video project by Joe Critic.
